Print 2 week project

Started the 2 week project in Print and Contemporary Practice and id say ill enjoy every second of it!! Our brief is to investigate the urban environment in which we had to present ten photos or images to work from on the first day, after much thought on this i decided to look at urban decay and the effects this decay has on the the people living around it! I used some of my earlier photography in this process, we then have to pick a few of the images and use the intaglio dry-point method to make some stylized prints!

Neverwhere

This is the final video for animation. It did not turn out at all as I wanted it to and even for the many snags im still happy enough with the outcome (well kinda). I experienced a LOT of tec problems trying to get to grips with three programmes that I was giving myself a crash course in over the past two days.(Adobe flash, premier pro and after-effects) As I have shown earlier I animated the birds and the main figure with traditional stop motion animation, then I rendered the moving parts of the backround in flash. I came to the first major problem when I tryed to render my traditional animations in flash, after much time and with advice from the tutors I eventully renderered this through After-effects. As you can see the movement is limited, I had intended to have the birds to circle, land in another scene and turn into the figure, this turned out to be too complex an idea to begin with especilly with the time constrants. All in all I really enjoyed this elective and truly have learned so much in the past two weeks not just becoming familiar with the tecnical programmes and seeing that nothing ever really goes to plan but also with the way I should approch projects from now on. Animation is somthing I would love to do in the future and im definatly going to learn all the ins and outs of the amazing After-effects.

Frame rate

this one came out good, getting the hang of frame rate is the key id say.

Final try.......

Yet another go............

Stop motion

Another go at animating the figure more fluidly!!

DAMN THE CAT!!!

This is an animation for the next scene. Made the figure from card and used pins on the joints to move him. Bloddy cat ran in after 40 minutes of shooting and wrecked the thing but came out ok all the same. Still got alot to learn though

Stop motion 2

This is another animation this time using loads of birds made from black paper, this take quite a while to animate.

Animation

This is one of the first videos i did of a bird in flight.

Animation two week project

Started the animation elective nearly two weeks ago. We had to make a 15 second  stop motion video. Although i had no experience with any animation apart from the little flick books i would make as a child, it is something i have always wanted to get involved in. It was tougher than i imagined it would be and is a skill with a very steep learning curve. But I love a challenge!! My own aim was to make a tralier for Neil Gaimans novel Neverwhere with my own twists on the characters.

"Nightwalking"

A map of a derive I did at night in limerick. I wanted to capture how different a walk can be at night. The darkness and the illuminations, the feeling of danger yet the heightened feelings of curiosity. I made this using a timber frame, spray paint, stencils(which took hours to cut!!) and some battery powered led lights. Very happy how this turned out and how well it photographs!!
