Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778)

One artist i have come across in my search for artists interested in prisons is Giovanni Battista Piranesi was an Italian artist famous for his etchings of Rome and of fictitious and atmospheric prisons. These etching of prisons are amazingly detailed and show the strife of prisoners in his day. I really like how the use of space was very much kept in mind by Piranesi as most of these concept prisons were designed to be located underground if they were ever built.
